The photographic work selected by the students have been taken from the three practical briefs from the course: Man Made & Natural World, Family Album or Identity and The Surreal. Each project explored the titled themes reflecting upon other historical and contemporary photographers who have this subject matter running through their work.
The students completed their last Picture Makers Class at Cinema & Co for this course. We reflected upon the work and how it was hung and the preparation involved in exhibiting. Followed by the opening where family and friends came along to see the work and enjoyed a photographic slide show looking at Iconic Photography, Family Album or Identity project looking at Sally Mann, Johannes Vermeer and Camera Obsura, Julia Margaret Cameron and photos taken in Ellis Island by Augustus Francis Sherman taken in the 1900. And then a slide show of my own body of work. I always like to show students my own body of work to understand my practice of photography which informs how I teach.
